NOVALIS ENTERTAINMENT REPATRIATES CANADIAN LITERARY JEWEL THE DEPTFORD TRILOGY By ROBERTSON DAVIES
Novalis, a film development corporation based in Vancouver, British Columbia, will first produce a mini-series based on the unparallelled trilogy: Fifth Business, The Manticore, and World of Wonders. Robertson Davies (1913-1995) novelist, playwright, essayist, erstwhile Master of Massey College and esteemed man of letters, was one of the most distinguished 20th century writers. Novalis Entertainment develops and produces high quality literary adaptations for Film and Television. Novalis tracked the rights to Fifth Business since 1994, and is now in the midst of attaching creative elements to a 6 hour international co-production. Novalis President and CEO Charles K. Pitts was Co-Writer and Supervising Executive of the award-winning CBC Movie of the Week, LIVES OF GIRLS AND WOMEN (Winner: Best Film Award, Atlantic Film Festival, 1995, Finalist: Best Made for TV Movie, Banff International Television Festival, 1996), and Co-writer and Executive Producer of the feature film, EDGE OF MADNESS (2002) – both based on the works of Alice Munro. Mr. Pitts is a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Dipl. Perf.) and Queen’s University (MBA) in Kingston, Ontario. Mr. Pitts sends the following call out to Canadian filmmaking talent around the world: “Novalis intends to assemble a
team of the finest Canadian and international talent who believe, as Novalis
does, that the time for this profound story to be told cinematically is
long overdue. I call upon all Canadian filmmaking talent working within
Canada and abroad, to please call home immediately and report for duty.
Our mission is to make nothing less than a film worthy of the ages.” |
